Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X PC version out soon…

April 2nd, 2009

Jim (PCsByDesign.com)

Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X PC version is set to be out in a little over a week. But you may want to try out the Demo before putting down your $50 on this game. I have to say that the trailer looks great but, I am personally not happy with the challenges that I encountered with trying to launch the demo. If this is any indication of the full version of the game I will personally pass on this one (this is just my opinion).  I was hoping that it might resemble “Battlefield 2” aerial battles but, it doesn’t even come close in the demo.

The Sims 3: Create Trailer

April 2nd, 2009

Create, create and create whoever and whatever you want then show it all off. I hate to say how many hours of productivity I have lost to The Sims 2. And I am sure that The Sims 3 is designed to get the player engrossed in hours of gameplay, managing the life of your Sims character while many of your own life needs could easily slip away.  Looking to living up in The Sims 3. Scheduled for release Feb 20, 2009.

Are video games teaching survival? (Humorous)

April 2nd, 2009

Jim (PCsByDesign.com)

Video games can teach you post apocalyptic survival skills. But do you really want to be around in the post apocalyptic earth? It is predicted to be a wild and crazy place; with zombies, monsters, radiated food and water, alien life forms and just about every horrible thing that you could possibly face. So, my advice is “get your game on now!”

XFX Radeon™ HD 4870 XXX Edition

April 2nd, 2009

Jim (PCsByDesign.com)

Back on January 5, 2009 – Ontario, CA based XFX announced collaboration with AMD and introduced its first Radeon™ HD-powered 4000 series cards, the XFX Radeon™ HD 4870, 4850, 4830, 4650 and 4350.  All five models feature exceptional memory bandwidth, board power and compute power as well as a number of industry-firsts. Now that I have had some play time with the XFX Radeon™ HD 4870 XXX Edition in my system, All that I can say is that this is one “Bad-Ass” graphic card at a reasonable price point. It is a must have if you’re a gamer. I added this (HD 4870 XXX edition 1GB) to replace the two HD 3870’s that I was running in crossfire and this card smoked my previous performance. The XFX Radeon™ HD 4870 is truly an awesome videocard and has made it possible to play all my current games (such as; Crysis, GTA 4 and COD World at War…) on maxed out setting on my Gateway HD 24” LCD monitor at 1900 x 1200 resolution. Also look for the HD 4890 version scheduled for retail release on about April 1, 2009. The HD 4890 version is expected to be about 6% faster than the current HD 4870 version at a U.S. price point of about $280. To learn more about XFX or its new lineup of Radeon™ HD-powered 4000 Series graphics cards, please visit www.xfxforce.com.

Logitech G35 Surround Sound Headset

April 2nd, 2009

Jim (PCsByDesign.com)

For gamers looking to be totally immersed in their game, the Logitech G35 headset offers 7.1 surround sound – a perfect complement to the growing number of action games and high-definition movies that support 7.1-channel surround sound. The headset is powered by second-generation Dolby® Headphone technology. Plus, with its ear-enclosing design, the G35 headset greatly reduces ambient noise from interfering with your entertainment, while an adjustable, noise-canceling microphone focuses on your voice and reduces background noise. In other words, your games will sound awesome and you’ll hear every explosion but you can still hear the phone ring in case you want to pause you game to take a call. I will be giving these a try in next few weeks. “I have not been disappointed with any Logitech product to date so, I expect to be thoroughly pleased with the Logitech G35 headset.”

Tom Clancy’s HAWX… new air combat game

April 2nd, 2009

Jim (PCsByDesign.com)

A new air combat game set in the near future when a private military force attacks the U.S. using technologically advanced jet fighters. This video details the Enhanced Reality System, which is an integrated battlefield control and perception system providing the computer tactical options to engage enemy targets in the air and on the ground, in Tom Clancy’s HAWX. The game play in this video is reminiscent of Battlefield 2 aerial combat with sound really cool graphics and maps. I’m truly looking forward to giving this a full review. This new Tom Clancy title is produced by Ubisoft and is scheduled to hit the US retail market in the first quarter of 2009.
